A Comprehensive Review of Romify.io Lead Capture App

In today’s fast-paced event environment, capturing qualified leads efficiently is crucial. Business cards remain a staple, but manual data entry is time-consuming and error-prone. Trade show apps like Romify.io and Handshook.app aim to streamline lead capture and retrieval process with artificial intelligence. This review dives into Romify’s functionalities, explores its strengths and weaknesses, analyzes its suitability for various event needs, and compares it to alternative solutions.

Core Functionalities

Romify.io focuses on capturing and managing leads at trade shows, conferences, and events. It offers a suite of features including:

Pros:

  • Business Card Scanning: Utilize your smartphone’s camera to automatically scan and extract contact details from business cards.
  • Badge Scanning: Scan barcodes on attendee badges (if applicable) to quickly capture information.
  • Lead Qualification: Pre-program qualifying questions to gather valuable insights about attendee needs and interests alongside basic contact information.
  • Real-Time Lead Scoring: Romify leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to score leads based on various factors, prioritizing those most likely to convert.
  • Lead Nurturing Tools: Send automated follow-up emails and personalize communication with pre-built templates.
  • CRM and Marketing Automation Integration: Integrate Romify with popular CRMs and marketing automation platforms for seamless lead nurturing and management.
  • Event Analytics: Gain insights into lead capture trends and attendee behavior to optimize future event strategies.
  • Integrations: Seamless integration with popular CRMs and marketing automation platforms enhances lead management workflows.
  • Artificial Intelligence – The advertising suggests artificial intelligence but doesn’t describe how it is use.

Cons:

  • Complicated Pricing: The pricing page is really complex and seems expensive. For instance, 1 token costs $3,100 and I’m not really sure what a token is.
  • Reliance on Scannable Formats: Efficiency hinges on business cards or badges with compatible barcodes. Attendees without these formats require manual entry, impacting speed and accuracy.
  • Limited Offline Access: While lead capture functions offline, advanced features like accessing existing lead data or managing integrations require an internet connection.
  • Cost: A single token costs $3,100. That might price most small businesses and startups out of using this tool.
  • LinkedIn Functionality – LinkedIn is the preferred social media network for professionals, but there isn’t built in functionality to connect with prospects on LinkedIn.
  • No Batch Scan: Trade show booths can get busy. There is no way to scan multiple cards or badges at the same time as a batch scan.
  • Booking Appointments – There doesn’t appear to be a way to link with your Microsoft or Google Calendar to book appointments directly on the trade show floor, which is why many sales people attend trade shows to begin with.

Who should consider using it

Romify.io is a valuable tool for exhibitors and event organizers across various scenarios:

  • Event Organizers: Enhance the exhibitor experience by offering a convenient way to capture and manage contact information. The down side for event organizers is that they have to pay for the app as an additional expense.
  • Sales Teams: One nice advantage over Cvents or Whova is that this app can be purchased directly by companies to use when exhibiting and isn’t just for event organizers.

However, for events without a culture of using business cards or badges, or those seeking a more cost effective solution, an alternative solution might be more suitable for lead capture functionality like badge and business card scanning.

Alternative Lead Capture Apps

Several mobile lead capture apps compete with Romify.io in the market. Here’s a brief comparison:

  • Handshook: Lacks some integrations because it is newer, but does well at scanning all of the inputs you’d find at a trade show: event badges, business cards and digital business cards like HiHello, Blinq, and Dot card. Plus can find missing contact information on badges and connect with prospects on LinkedIn right from the app.
  • iCapture PowerScan: Other than Handshook, this app seems to be the next best thing available for lead capture and business card scanning but is more intended for scanning business cards and connecting with Salesforce. However, it doesn’t appear to be as compatible as Handshook or Romify.
  • CapleadA great introductory lead capture app with reasonable pricing but limits connections and is only compatible with business cards (no event badges).

Looking for event management apps to host a trade show?

Consider these solutions for full blown event management apps which have some lead capture functionality but are intended for event managers not sales managers.

  • Cvents LeadCapture: This lead capture app is intended for trade show badges but not other formats.
  • Whova: This is an all-in-one events app that doesn’t do lead capture or lead retrieval well.
  • Webex Events (formerly Socio): This is more of an event management app platform like Cvents or Whova.
  •

Pricing

Romify.io has confusing pricing. I’m not sure what a token is or which pricing chart to look at.

The Final Word

Romify.io offers a comprehensive suite of features for lead capture, qualification, nurturing, and management. Its AI-powered scoring and built-in lead nurturing tools make it a valuable asset for maximizing event ROI. However, the pricing seems overly complex (what is a credit?) and lacks advanced functionality of the others so if that is a problem, you may consider other AI-powered lead capture apps like Handshook.
